WISC-V Ebook

Your order of the WISC-V Preparation ebook should include two (2) ebooks: the WISC-V workbook (not printable) and the scoring form (printable).

To access your ebooks please do the following:

1) Open your order confirmation email.

2) At the top of the email click on the link that says "view your order."

3) On the next webpage, click on the link that says "access your ebook."

4) Follow the instructions on how to download the Adobe Digital Editions Software. The ebooks can only be opened with the Adobe Digital Editions software.

The Preparation Kit for the WISC-V includes a paperback book and a set of blocks. The Preparation Ebook for the WISC-V contains identical content to the paperback book but it is accessible for only 60 days, is not printable,  and does not include a set of blocks. However it does include a printable scoring form to record your child's answers.

You can install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to read downloaded ebooks on your computer and transfer them to supported ereaders.

Visit Adobe's website to see the system requirements for ADE.

Step 1: Get an Adobe ID

In order to view the eBooks you will need a free Adobe ID. (If you already have an Adobe ID, be sure to use your existing Adobe ID, instead of registering for a new one.)

Step 2: Download Adobe Digital Editions software

Steps for Windows

Go to the ADE website, then click the Download tab.Click the download link for Windows and click Save File.Once the installer is downloaded, open and run it.Follow the prompts in the setup wizard.Click Done.

Note: If these steps didn't work for you, you may have to install ADE manually.

Before you can download ebooks, you'll need to authorize ADE.

Steps for Mac

Go to the ADE website, then click the Download tab.Click the download link for Macintosh.Once the installer is downloaded, open and run it. Follow the prompts in the setup wizard.Click Close.

Note: If these steps didn't work for you, you may have to install ADE manually.

Step 3: Authorize Adobe Digital Editions

After you have created your Adobe ID and installed the reader, you will need to authorize Adobe Digital Editions. The first time ADE opens, a Computer Authorization dialogue box may open automatically. If not, click on the Help menu. Then click on "Authorize Computer...". The Computer Authorization dialog box will now open.

Once you have completed the Adobe ID registration process, return to the "Computer Authorization" dialogue box in ADE. Follow the instructions below to authorize your computer:

1) In the field labeled “eBook Vendor”, be sure that “Adobe ID” is already selected.

2) Enter your Adobe ID and Password in the next two boxes (from Step 1 above).

3) Click Authorize. Your computer is now authorized with your Adobe ID. (You will not have to authorize this computer again to view eBooks in ADE.)

Open the confirmation email you received from us on your computer. Locate your Personal File Link for the eBook in the email, then click on it. (You can also copy and paste the link into the address bar of your browser; then hit the Enter key.)

After clicking on the file link, ONE of the following should happen (depending on your default browser and system configuration):

A window may open showing the eBook automatically being transferred into ADE.

OR, a window may open, offering you the option of opening the ***.acsm file in ADE. If you see this window, select the Open option, then click “OK,” instead of saving the file. Then you should see a new window open, showing the eBook transferring to ADE.

If neither of these things happens, locate the file named ***.acsm on your computer, then click on it. (You can usually find the file in your “Downloads” folder -- or in the Download bar or menu of your default browser.) You should see a new window open, showing the eBook transferring to ADE.

That depends on the child’s age and stamina. We suggest parents give their child at least a month to go through the workbook the child for about 15-20 minutes each day. We suggest the following:

1) Incorporate regularly scheduled practice sessions into your child’s homework schedule. Initially, practice doesn’t have to be daily just consistent, then gradually build frequency as test day approaches.

2) Give your child a variety of practice exercises to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Then focus your efforts on the skills that your child finds most difficult.

3) Many younger children may initially not have the attention span to complete even one skill area. Even older children may find it difficult to maintain focus for the full duration of an actual test. To address this issue, start in short practice sessions and build up the length of practice over time. For an older child, you may want to run a full-length practice of the test, to give him a feel for the test structure, the transition between skill sections and the duration of the test.

4) Try to keep the stress level low. Take a break from practice if needed.

The Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities Test measures ‘innate’ abilities such as long-term and short term memory, reasoning skills, and processing speed. The Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement measure skills taught in school such as, reading, writing and arithmetic.
